Hello ALL:
Hope you will all pray for me. I am having big health issues again. Battling with those nasty cancer cells that love my last female organ! I have a treatment with my old surgeon and hope this will get rid of the problem. BUT who knows. This is all in God's plan, and I must obediently follow it. I just don't know what it is. :-))
Blessings to any of you who are looking at this from time to time.

CATCHING UP!
Hi All!
I haven't posted here in a long time. I've been battling pain on my left side for a couple of weeks now. Still hurting a bit & don't know what it is.... oh well.
As for the rest of it, haven't been to a weight watchers meeting in about a month. Being in pain causes me to go straight home after work. No lingering around to get weighed in. OH Well again.
Hope I haven't gained too much weight. Maybe even lost a pound or two. When I'm in pain, I turn to goodies for comfort. They tend to work better than a lot of pain killers.
MORE in the future.

Ready to mail in my entry to BFL
Well, it is time for me to mail in my entry to BFL. I hope my story is inspirational enough and my 17 pound weight loss and 31 inch fat loss is good enough to win as my age group.
Let's pray this is in God's plan. After all, if I have money..... then I can be the generous woman I strive to be. :-))

Lost 31 inches of body fat to date! WOW
Well, how wonderful. I took my measurements yesterday, and low and behold I have dropped a total of 31 inches from all over my body... arms, waist, abdomen, hips, thighs, and calves. I am astounded at this feat. It has been almost 12 weeks total that I was on the Body for Life (BFL) program, and I have lost that many inches. I am at 17.6 pounds total weight loss, which is another wonderful feat! This is over 7 % of my total body weight.
BFL is an amazing program. God is wonderful for allowing and assisting my progress on a daily basis.

I Did IT! Completed my first 5K Race
Well Praise Jesus, and thanks to God's grace I managed to finish my very first 5K race. I walked it in 58:18, with a "net time" of 57:37. My pace was: 18:33 minutes/per mile. I finished 35th in my age group (50-54), and 1125 over-all in a group of 1614. I am so greatful to the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and to God for carrying me that last mille when my ankle and knee were killing me, and my left foot was so numb that my toes were tingling!.
I was so ecstatic, elated, and exhausted at the end. I also felt pumped with the spirit of our Lord in my veins. The music I listened to while walking was many Christian rock and fast paced gospel music.

Hurray! I lost 3 more pounds this week. Finally, after a little backslide. I am very pleased. I am at 17 pounds & a little over 5% of my starting body weight is GONE!
Don't forget to watch me at my very first 5K (walk)Run. The Twilight 5K run at South Miami. 6 PM, Sunday June 7th. Next to Town Kitchen and Bar 7301 SW 57 Ct, South Miami, FL
I probably will take at least 1 hour to complete the walk. Hope some of my friends will come out to cheer me on in the finish!

1 more thought .....
One more thought about how I am doing with my weight loss. I had set up this very difficult desire to lose 10 pounds a month - EVERY month. I know this would be possible, but it is a VERY high expectation. I need to go easier on myself so there is no room for berating myself for not doing well.
You have to be realistic about your goals, and you also have to be able to take it easy on yourself.
That said, I move on to getting weighed-in tonight. Here's wishing for progress.

Ugh, another weigh in tonight!
Ok all, it has been quite a while since my last post. I guess I've been so busy with school & work that I haven't had time to log in.
My biggest discomfort comes on Tuesdays.... ofcourse, because I have to weigh in at Weight Watchers after work. I had stopped walking due to the pain it was causing my ankles and knee.... replacing it with cycling at home on my stationary bike... Yeah, believe that one. My plan was to do that, but some how it never seems to get accomplished. So I plod along, due to changing my food intake & diet at 1 pound per week, if that. I MUST get back ontrack. I am going to try to get up really early tomorrow & travel to Curves for a workout & sign up for $30/30 day program. Let's see if I can get there 3 - 4 times a week for 30 minutes to get in some serious working out.
I am also hoping to get a personal trainer/friend to help me at Bally's which is so much closer to me, so I can get myself in shape for a convincing "after" picture for my BFL contest. They say that 1/2 of their judging is in the transformation pictures & measurements and the other half is with the content of your writing. I believe I can really get to the hearts of the judges with my emotional outpouring of inspirational thoughts. I think they will be very interested in my progress and my story. I just need to crack down on the physical working out so I have more to show from following the program.
Well, enough of a rambling. I know that this is all under God's watch. What he has chosen to happen to me, will happen. The rest is not for me to worry about. RIGHT?! Definitely RIGHT. :-))
More in a few days, perhaps after I weigh in tonight.

LOST 2 more pounds!
OK! I lost another 2 pounds. That's 12 pounds in 5 weeks! YEAH! I thought it would have been more since I have been walking a longer distance and for 30 minutes instead of just 20 minutes, but perhaps it will take next week. Let's see.
I have a good friend coming in Friday (5/1) to spend the week-end & help me celebrate my 50th birthday - next week (5/7). He could not come in to town next week. I am really looking forward to spending time together, and celebrating my new number!
More later....

So today I weigh in. I have been really amazing with my activity. I also have followed the BFL food plan well. Soooo lets see. I did my measurements, and have lost a total of 10-1/2 inches since I began. That is quite cool!
I'll post tomorrow, to let everyone know my progress. I am hoping for 5 pounds, but that may be unrealistic. Let's see. Peace out, as my kids used to say.

Woman on a Mission!
Well you all know me by now. I am driven, and on a mission. I reached my first 10 pound loss on Tuesday the 21st. If I continue with a minimum loss of 10 lbs a month, after my second Body for Life round (24 weeks total) I will be below 200 Pounds. My first major goal. After that, well who knows... this will be September 14th! I can get there faster, but this is a reasonable goal for me.
Here goes!

ANOTHER 2.6 pounds GONE!
WOW! The BFL (Body for Life) program really works.... even with no exercise. I was sick in bed for two of 7 days, and didn't do my usual 3 days (20 minute walks around the park 3x) exerecising after work. I am sooooo happy.
I am back on track too. I'll walk today, after work.... even if it is dark outside.

Well Easter Sunday was a GREAT day! The feed the homeless ministry was able to feed 80 people, and gave out socks, jeans, t-shirts, hats, underwear, and shoes to many of those men and women. What a blessing, and what a humbling experience for all of us who attended.
Today, I weigh in at WW. I don't know if any weight was lost. I followed my BFL food plan, however no extra exercise was done.... I was home sick in bed for 2 days, and..... excuses..excuses..excuses! So let's pray I didn't gain anything this week.
More tomorrow.

Easter Sunday is on it's way :-))
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday. I look forward to singing in the choir (in Spanish... funny for me). I am very happy to have lost some weight this week (4 pounds). I am coming out of being home sick for two days with a throat infection.
Thank God it is clearing up in time to sing! My whole neck and shoulder area are in pain..... time for a therapeutic massage.
I am hoping we have some good turn out for our feed the homeless ministry. I'll take some photos & put them here next time.

Well, HURAY! This week I lost another 4 pounds. I'm up to 7 pounds in two weeks. I would love to get this higher. Perhaps I need to step up my exercise routing.
I've been home sick with a bad throat infection, so now I have two days to make up for just sleeping! However, I do feel refreshed.
I'm psyched for Sunday - it is EASTER, and we are going out to feed the homeless once again. I hope we get some press coverage.
Keep watching and I'll let you know how it went.

Week 2 Weigh In Tonight
Well, tonight will be my second weigh in. I have been following Body For Life for a week and a day. I tried my home scale, and it says 249.2. If this is true, I have lost 5 more pounds this week! I don't trust my scale though. That is why I go to weight watchers on a weekly basis. To get weighed in the same time every week, and on the same scale. I also really like the group of people who attend the meeting. The leader is really nice as well. I don't do the food plan however, because I am over figuring out points! UGH! Now I get why people like that program. They spend so much time figuring out the values for what they put into their system, or are planning to put into their bodies that either they are too tired to eat anything, or they are so annoyed, that they don't want to have to figure out any more.... so they don't eat anything else! FUNNY right?
OK, this is a first post, so I'll keep it short. Mostly I am really happy with myself, and my program. Last night I put together my exercise ball/weight system and even thought I was exhausted, at 11 PM instead of watching TV, I did my first Pilates - upper body work out on the ball with attached weights and bands. Let me tell you, it wasn't easy. Wow. I just did 30 minutes. I can imagine how beat I will be when I extend it to the normal 46 minute workout BFL wants us to follow!
My food is really getting easy to follow. My stomach is shrinking for sure. I couldn't even finish all of my breakfast of strawberries and fat free cottage cheese this morning. I added 1/2 a date and 5 almonds as well as 1/2 cup of pure ruby red grapefruit juice (Publix brand). There is no sugar added, just grapefruits. I am still indulging in my caffeine fix in the morning. I nurse it most of the morning. I am trying to wean myself off of too much of this. But it is a very slow process.
Stay tuned for tonights weigh in facts.....
OH! I almost forgot to tell you all about Sunday's "feed the homeless" ministry. We had a wonderful time getting 71 meals to the needy. We also gave out 5 pairs of shoes, lots of t-shirts, a quilt, and some towels. Not to mention some rain jackets, and a couple of hoodies to keep them dry in a rain shower.
WE REALLY NEED you to rally this Sunday. It is EASTER Sunday, and we need men's jeans, men's shoes, and large men's t-shirts. I hope you'll pass by, and either donate something or your time. RESURRECTION BAPTIST CHURCH, 2PM. (2323 SW 27 AVE, Miami, FL 33145 - across the street from Publix Supermarkets)
SEE YOU THERE!
