Wonderful Happenings Daily!

Every day, things are getting better, little by little.  God truly has my back, and then some.  I am working as a substitute teacher in Plantation, Florida.  Driving an hour each way every day.  But, it is work!

I haven't heard back from the Drama Teacher at an elementary school in Lee County.  I am assuming this means I have not gotten the job.  However, if God wants me to get this position it will come to fruition.

More updates later.  Just know, God is working on improving my life every day.

Thank You JESUS, Amen

Channel 7 - Miami's Local News Station Covers 1Miami Rally & I Speak For Them

I had the honor to speak to the news on behalf of 1Miami on Thursday, August 11th.  The attached link is an exact quote and highlight of the coverage on the 10PM news.

http://www.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/21005079348461/

I am honored to have represented this organization and the population of Miami-Dade county that we represent.  Our organization speaks not just for Miami, but for all of the state of Florida, and ultimately for the people of the USA.  It is not for the personal credit that I am honored, but for the acknowledgement of the news covering our message that we MUST be heard!

What do we want???  We Want JOBS.  When do we want them?  NOW!!!

Halellujah, By The Grace of God I Passed the Certification Exam!

Who carries you through those difficult times?  Whom do you ask for help?  Who is there every step you take?  Who guides you on the correct path?  Who NEVER lets you down?  Who do you praise and give thanks to when things go right?  For me the only answer is GOD.   I read these two passages every day:
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.   Do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you.  I will help you.  I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”             Isaiah 41:10  (New Living Translation)
“I am holding you by your right hand ~ I, the LORD your God.  And I say to you, ‘Do not be afraid.  I am here to help you.’”  Isaiah 41:13 (New Living Translation)
I am asking you to take a moment with me to praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all the wonderful things He bestows upon us every day!  If not for Him, His guidance, His divine plan for me, and His wisdom I would not be here today.  It is He, and He alone who facilitated my passing my FTCE Educational Media Specialist PK-12 Certification Exam.

In case you are not a believer, and are a cynical thinker, here is my rationale:

I had a very short time to study, no prospect of money to pay for the exam, and wasn't sure God wanted me to go down this path.  His light shone through.  He gave me support, created the intelligence to answer the questions correctly, and gave me sprinkles of light to show me this is indeed a chance He wants me to take in my life.  For example, the contact who had originally posted the job opportunity helped to create the actual exam.  What are the odds of being able to speak with a creator of the test who encouraged my taking the test.   I listened to their every word, and figured out some areas I needed to highlight in my studies prior to taking the exam.  Pretty amazing don't you think?  A coincidence you say, just a coincidence.  Well, I personally don't believe in coincidences.  I believe in God's divine plan, and His path for us.  When things which you may call coincidences happen to us I KNOW it is God's creation.  Do you really think meeting your perfect mate at a concert with thousands of people attending was just a coincidence?  What are the odds?  I don't know.  Math is not my best subject.  I DO know, however, that God is in our lives, every step we take.  He gives us direction, which if we follow we will be very successful in life.

Let's look at my situation:  I obediently followed the direction God showed me that He wants me to go.  As a result, I passed the exam, money is coming from a scholarship program at the FSU MLIS-School Media Specialist track (created to assist only 3 students take their FTCE certification exam), and God's Will is leading/directing me to be successful and to shine in His light.

So once again, can I hear a HALLELUJAH, praise Jesus/God, and AMEN to glorify our Lord and savior Jesus Christ!  He died on the cross to assure we would live.  God generously gave His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, so that we could live!  I don't know how many of you would do that so unselfishly for others.  Would you?  God wants us to follow in His son's footsteps, and be as generous, loving, Godly, spiritual, and righteous as Jesus.  Remember the phrase, "What would Jesus do"  (often seen as the acronym, "WWJD"  on wristbands)?  We should ask ourselves this at least once a day, if not every time we are faced with a question about how to proceed.  If we follow His example we will be helping to make the world a better place, one person at a time.

Today I leave you all with these words, and this message in the hope that you take stock of your life, and listen and obey your Father God!  In the name of His son Jesus Christ I give thanks and pray, AMEN!

Dates We Need to See You In Nmbers

I will soon be posting information on how to help 1Miami gain speed.  You need to come out in numbers.  We need your presence.  Our congressmen/women will not know how serious we are if YOU do not show up.  They have to see how many of us are tired of being tired!

PUT August 16th on your calenders.  I will give you more information soon.

Keep posted, for more information.

Update & Hello World - again!

Once again, it has been quite a while since I last posted. I have been through a lot since May.

I walked another 5K, I will post pictures soon. I also ended up in the hospital with an 8mm kidney stone which needed to be Lazar blasted away. I went to an amazing Hillsong United Aftermath Concert/worship event. They played for 3 hours, and we were entranced because God truly was in the AA Arena. The whole place was alive with spiritual worship and it felt more like a worship service/revival meeting with rock music than a concert. I highly recommend them to ALL

Lastly, I became proudly involved with 1Miami. We are working to gain the attention of our local congressmen/women, and have them take our concerns about the lack of jobs in Miami-Dade County. I am participating in the August movement to let them know just how we feel, and what message we need them to take back to Washington. I will be attending an event on Thursday, which should prove to be very interesting. We are presenting a letter to Ilianna Ross-Lehtinan.

Stay tuned for more on these events....

Oh yes one more thing, I am still looking for a job as an elementary education k-6 teacher, drama teacher 6-12, or a school media specialist k-12. If you have any leads, at this point anywhere in the world (preferably Miami/Ft Lauderdale/ or Lee County Area... PLEASE let me know.

Well, more soon, I promise. .

A Very Joyous Week-end!

Well, this past week-end was filled with joy and celebration. My 52nd birthday was on Saturday, and Sunday was of course, Mother's day.

I celebrated my birthday peacefully by relaxing most of the day. In the evening, my son AK kept with our tradition of going out to the newest adventure film. Last year was "Iron man 2", and this year was "Thor". I really liked the film, and we went out to eat on Coco Walk (in Coconut Grove, Miami, FL). The Heat game was on, and there were televisions for us to watch. We had the pleasure of also being with AK's girlfriend, Samantha, who is lovely.

Sunday was equally pleasant. Frank called to wish me a Happy Mother's Day, and let me know he was on his way back from the wedding he had attended the previous day/evening. We agreed to meet for dinner when I got back home. After church, I met up with my friend, DRC. I have known her since I was 11. We had a lovely lunch at Boston Market, and were able to catch up. I managed to fit in a visit with a friend I hadn't spent time with since Christmas. We hung out at the Black Point Mariana & Park by the water. It was absolutely lovely. He always manages to put a smile on my face. To top the day off, Frank cooked delicious steak filets on my neighbor's grill, made a wonderful healthy salad, and we had a peaceful mother's day dinner together. I also received wonderful text messages and facebook messages from friends far away and close by. One in particular put a huge smile on my face, and if you could see me now, the same huge smile is still there.

Overall, this was a wonderful and joyous week-end of celebration and family. There were some little glitches, but I push those out of my mind, because as usual I choose to keep the beauty in my mind and heart, and to let go of those things which were not as pleasant. I also pick my battles very carefully.

I now must get back on the horse, so to speak, and buck up with my health and fitness regime. I allowed the cancellations of my training appointments to keep me out of the gym, and also did not do any extra exercise. Instead, I played (or worked) since Thursday, on my new HP Pavilion g7-series 17" notebook/laptop computer.

This computer was my personal birthday present to myself. I saw it on QVC. I had been pricing computers for over a year. I ended up getting a Gateway desktop with 1 Ter of memory on the hard drive for my home apartment, and not a laptop a few months ago. However, since I am spending a great deal of time outside of my home, I needed a good mobile computer to work on. Between my long distance masters classes at FSU, my own personal work, and various other reasons I needed a good working traveling computer. This one sang to me, and wooed me when it came on the television. The first thing about it was I could make 6 payments and receive the computer right away. Second, was the software package which came along with it. Third, was the 500 gb of memory on the hard drive. Fourth, was the CD/DVD/Blue Ray DVD player, which also burns CD's & DVD's with the light scribe feature. The one that got me, sold me, and made me say, "this is the one I must have" is the fact that it came in many different colors, and purple (my favorite color) was one. So now I am the wonderfully happy, and joyful owner of this purple beauty! It made my class last night absolutely a pleasure as well. I didn't need a headset because the computer comes with a webcam, and internal mic and speakers. How joyful again!

Sooooo, now I have an appointment with my trainer Wednesday at 2:30. I know it will burn and hurt as I have lost a week, and my body has gone lazy again. However, we will get back on track, and forward I will go! I am on a good roll, although my stomach is bloated out, my waist is still 3" smaller than before, and my face shows the new me. My grey hair is showing because I have been in the pool and jacuzzi so much. I will perhaps do that again today, to help get me out of the small emotional slump I am in. I am also going to get my nails done, and lips & brows waxed to look prettier. All for my spirits. There are days were I get lost a little in sadness. I must always keep this in check, as I am very joyful for all that there is in my life. God has been so good to me, and I must hold on to the good, and throw out the bad.

Thank you Jesus for all the glorious gifts you continue to bestow upon me. Also thank you for keeping my spirits lifted high through all my trials and tribulations. You are an awesome God!

Hello it has been ages since my last post...

Hi all:

I know it has been a while since my last post, but I just wanted today to wish myself a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I am so dedicated to my new regime for weight loss, fitness, & health that the first thing I am doing today is having a training session with my personal trainer. One real reason is that we have had to cancel twice this week, & I MUST get in a session before the end of the week.

Well, more later.

Best A
